Regional Water Quality Control Board not attending 2012 Sonoma County Fair?

Following a successful day at the Sustainable Enterprise Conference in Rohnert Park, US Hydrotech was hit with some disturbing and confusing news.  The Sustainable Sonoma Tent won't be happening this year at the Sonoma County Fair.  The Sustainable Sonoma Tent is an area at the fair that has been spearheaded by the Regional Water Quality Control board for the last five years with the purpose of educating the community about the importance of conserving and reusing the water we use every day.

This year, for reasons unknown, the Water Board decided not to participate and one has to ask the question why.  There are a few concerning issues growing rapidly that can be directly dealt with by education.  One such issues is Zebra and Quagga mussels infesting our waters and rapidly clogging up pipes.  These mussels are easily transported from lake to lake by attaching themselves to the hulls of water crafts.  The easiest and most effective way to stop this spread of invasive species is boat washing with a pressure washer and containment wash pad.  Another concern is the high volumes of copper going to the bay that affect the fish and ecosystem.  Copper dust from vehicle brake pads are a major concern to the ecosystem.  Although it can't be contained effectivly when cars are on the road, it can be contained when washing cars by using a wash pad.  The copper in the water prevents fish from locating spawning areas and as a result they die without spawning and reduce the fish population.  A perfect solution to these two problems is the Porta-Pad by US Hydrotech which contains wash water and pumps it to a sanitary sewer location to be handled properly.  There are plenty more solutions that are available that our communities would greatly benefit from knowing about.  The Fair is the largest draw of people for the County so its a perfect venue for education outreach.  Cost shouldn't be an issue either because the vendors that sponsor the booth, such as US Hydrotech for example, are the ones that pay for it.

The Water Board exists for education, and for no real reason, they has decided to pull out of one of the biggest opportunities for education and linking communication they have all year long thus preventing local businesses to partner with them in providing real solutions and ending up leaving Sonoma County residents high and dry.

Sustainable Enterprise Conference with US Hydrotech

Sustainability should be a part of every day life.  This is all too true with the founders of the Sustainable Enterprise Conference that continually demonstrate the ease of sustainability year after year.  Once again on May 11, we will come together with all types of sustainable businesses to showcase technologies and exchange intellectual information all in the name of environmental consciousness.

US Hydrotech is committed to sustainability, specifically in regards to water and how it affects us every day.  We have technologies such as Graywater diverters, Rainwater capture, Car Wash containment pads, Waste water filtration and discharge systems.  We also are the northern California representatives for Solar Thermal Technology in specifically Cogenra Solar.  Cogenra Solar has systems in such businesses as Kendall Jackson Winery, General Hydroponics, and soon to break ground at Facebook.

So, please join us on May 11th at the Sonoma Mountain Village in Rohnert Park, CA for an event that you won't want to miss!
