Porta-Pad at Hertz Rent-A-Car in Cincinnati, OH

The Porta-Pad is a fantastic solution to a businesses car wash needs.  It's patented and proven design has held the test of time on the west coast with over 100 systems installed over a decade.  One our our best clients, Hertz Rent-a-car, has just started installing our Porta-Pad system at their sites in Cincinnati, Oh.

Here's what the branch manager said:

"In running a rental car branch it is of the up most importance to have the ability to properly clean vehicles.  Our branch had recently relocated to an office space that did not have an environmentally friendly wash area which posed a huge issue for us.  Another office in a different area of the US had referred us to look into a Porta-Pad.  After hearing about the portability of this system and price of this system it was clear that it was worth a try.  We recently received our pad and to say the least my office is overly pleased with it!  When the pad arrived we were of the assumption it would be difficult to install, in actuality it was surprisingly simple.  The system came with easy to read directions and overall it didn’t take me more than 25 minutes to set up.  Since the pad has been in use at our branch has improved tenfold!  The fact that the pad can be easily drained and moved is very convenient for us.  Overall i would highly recommend this system to anyone.  It’s environmentally safe, it’s portable and it is a no brainer to operate!  I would highly recommend this to anyone not just people in the rental car industry!"

The Porta-Pad is perfect for all sorts of applications where there is a need for containment.  Don't go another day without protecting the environment and your business liability.

US Hydrotech now carries complete Hydroponics

US Hydrotech is now carrying a complete line of Hydroponics equipment and supplies.  We have been considering this step into hydroponics for quite some time now as it has become more and more integrated with systems we have specialized in for over 20 years.  It only makes sense to broaden our product and technology base to include hydroponics as part of total solution for water saving and recycling.  We now have a complete self sustained hydroponics station called the Urban Portable Planter which is self watering and easily can fit in a small space in a garage, green house or backyard.  Other products we incorporate into hydroponics are rainwater capture tanks and filters for using that water as part of your hydroponic system.
Please check us out next time you are searching for Hydroponic supplies, we would be happy to assist you with everything you need!

Porta-Pad Portable Containment System and Charity Car Wash

Washing cars in the street and allowing wash water going to the storm drain needs to become a thing of the past.  The affordable and economic solution is out there and it's called the Porta-Pad.  Its revolutionary design makes containing wash water and disposing of it properly easy.  Copper, lead, zinc and high organic loading are the worst and most common things to wash down the storm drain.  Copper affects fish and prevents them from spawning.  Zebra mussels can easily be transferred from lake to lake by boats that aren't washed off properly to prevent the spread of the infestation.  Zebra mussels can close up a 4 foot pipe in a single season.
The Porta-Pad is perfect for Autobody shops, cars, trucks, airplanes, motor homes, buses ATV's, boats, decon stations, parts washing, spill containment, agricultural supply containment, porta-potty wash down and more!
Charity car washes are a great idea.  The only problem is, again the wash water running to the storm drain.  Every charity car wash could have a Porta-Pad system that would greatly reduce liability and save the environment while at the same time differentiating themselves from other car washes because they are actually taking into account the environment and not just the charity.
Right now is the perfect time to start thinking about a Porta-Pad for your business.  When comparing the Porta-Pad cost vs. the cost (plus time) of driving a car to the car wash, the Porta-Pad comes out ahead every time.

Regional Water Quality Control Board not attending 2012 Sonoma County Fair?

Following a successful day at the Sustainable Enterprise Conference in Rohnert Park, US Hydrotech was hit with some disturbing and confusing news.  The Sustainable Sonoma Tent won't be happening this year at the Sonoma County Fair.  The Sustainable Sonoma Tent is an area at the fair that has been spearheaded by the Regional Water Quality Control board for the last five years with the purpose of educating the community about the importance of conserving and reusing the water we use every day.

This year, for reasons unknown, the Water Board decided not to participate and one has to ask the question why.  There are a few concerning issues growing rapidly that can be directly dealt with by education.  One such issues is Zebra and Quagga mussels infesting our waters and rapidly clogging up pipes.  These mussels are easily transported from lake to lake by attaching themselves to the hulls of water crafts.  The easiest and most effective way to stop this spread of invasive species is boat washing with a pressure washer and containment wash pad.  Another concern is the high volumes of copper going to the bay that affect the fish and ecosystem.  Copper dust from vehicle brake pads are a major concern to the ecosystem.  Although it can't be contained effectivly when cars are on the road, it can be contained when washing cars by using a wash pad.  The copper in the water prevents fish from locating spawning areas and as a result they die without spawning and reduce the fish population.  A perfect solution to these two problems is the Porta-Pad by US Hydrotech which contains wash water and pumps it to a sanitary sewer location to be handled properly.  There are plenty more solutions that are available that our communities would greatly benefit from knowing about.  The Fair is the largest draw of people for the County so its a perfect venue for education outreach.  Cost shouldn't be an issue either because the vendors that sponsor the booth, such as US Hydrotech for example, are the ones that pay for it.

The Water Board exists for education, and for no real reason, they has decided to pull out of one of the biggest opportunities for education and linking communication they have all year long thus preventing local businesses to partner with them in providing real solutions and ending up leaving Sonoma County residents high and dry.

Sustainability should be a part of every day life.  This is all too true with the founders of the Sustainable Enterprise Conference that continually demonstrate the ease of sustainability year after year.  Once again on May 11, we will come together with all types of sustainable businesses to showcase technologies and exchange intellectual information all in the name of environmental consciousness.

US Hydrotech is committed to sustainability, specifically in regards to water and how it affects us every day.  We have technologies such as Graywater diverters, Rainwater capture, Car Wash containment pads, Waste water filtration and discharge systems.  We also are the northern California representatives for Solar Thermal Technology in specifically Cogenra Solar.  Cogenra Solar has systems in such businesses as Kendall Jackson Winery, General Hydroponics, and soon to break ground at Facebook.

So, please join us on May 11th at the Sonoma Mountain Village in Rohnert Park, CA for an event that you won't want to miss!

Scale Blaster - Improving water flow efficiency

Scaling is a coating or precipitate deposited on surfaces that are in contact with hard water. When this hard water is heated or when evaporation takes place, calcium carbonate will form. Practically all equipment coming in contact with hard water will be affected by scale. This scale build up will clog up pipes, tubes; block jets and form a layer of mineral scale deposits in heat transfer surfaces. The result are billion-dollar problems for industry. Higher energy costs, serious maintenance problems and prolong damage to expensive capital equipment are all symptoms of scale build-up. Up until now, the only reliable solution is expensive chemical scale inhibiters, acid washes or water.

There are so many reasons to use a Scale Blaster - it eliminates limescale deposits from forming, removes existing scale in pipes, tubes, jets, and heat transfer, controls algae and bacteria, lowers energy consumption, reduces maintenance and downtime, extends the life of capitol equipment and its easy to install and operate.

The Scale Blaster is perfect for households or businesses and is a fantastic way to improve efficiency.

Storm Drain run-off protection for Grab N' Grow

Storm drain run-off is a constant issue, especially with businesses that have yards with rock, soil, and other compounds combined with tractors and equipment is a recipe for extremely high levels of environmental contamination.
Grab N' Grow, one of our clients, decided to take it upon themselves to be part of the solution and not part of the problem. US Hydrotech worked with them to make sure they were in compliance in regards to storm drain run-off and making sure nothing went down the storm drain, especially during a rainstorm. We accomplished this with technology from Ertec and creating a filtering and capture system that prevents virtually all contaminants from entering the storm drain. If more companies were so proactive as Grab N' Grow, our community would be and can be a healthier and more environmentally conscious society to live in where our children can count on a cleaner and greener tomorrow.

Rainwater capture and reuse in Mexico

Rainwater capture is on the rise a great way to reduce your water bill and its easier than ever to get started.
Other countries are taking great strides to do more in water capture, contain, reuse and discharge. Mexico is one example of a country in desperate need of ways to reduce high water bills. They are using the resources that are available to them and putting them to good use in regards to rainwater capture. An engineering company has installed four of our Aquadra rainwater capture tanks as part of their whole building green system. Their roof is a living roof and the water captured in these tanks helps hydrate all the plants on the roof, taking a load off their water bill. More companies like these need to be more proactive in the simple task of capturing and reusing water.

First Above Ground Oil Water Separator Approved by City of Santa Rosa at Enterprise Rent a Car in Santa Rosa, CA.

We are proud to announce that our car wash system is the first above ground Oil Water Separator system to be approved and permitted by the City of Santa Rosa, CA. After months of going through the necessary steps and piles of paperwork, we have successfully changed the building requirements for using above ground Oil Water Separators as well as using a canopy for car wash applications. Finally!

This system was installed at a site for one of the biggest car rental agencies in the nation, Enterprise Rent-a-car, to help them reduce their liability and reduce the cost per car wash all in the name of keeping the environment clean.

This will help tons of businesses in Santa Rosa and the surrounding area by allowing them to use above ground Oil Water Separators rather than requiring them to install In-Ground Oil Water Separators which can be sometimes twice the cost. This will especially be helpful to any business that is renting or leasing a property because it gives them the ability to install a Oil Water Separator system without doing any major construction and or alteration to the existing property.

Hopefully there will be many more systems like this to follow! Keep on the lookout for Water filtration Systems by US Hydrotech!
